Why every FERNAVO dress is designed for one kind of wedding, where the Fan Fold comes from, and why we never make white.
A guest, not a bride
A wedding guest has one rule: do not compete with the couple. Most guest dresses solve that by being forgettable. We think there is a better answer: keep away from white and ivory, keep away from sparkle that shouts across a room, and put all the character into shape instead — one sleeve, one shoulder, one fold.
That is what FERNAVO designs: wedding guest dresses with one sculptural idea each, for three kinds of wedding, and the bag, wrap and earrings that go with them.
The Fan Fold
Every piece in the collection comes back to the same shape: a length of fabric pressed into pleats and opened like a hand fan. On a dress it becomes a pleated shoulder, a rosette, a bow or a column of knife pleats. On a clutch it becomes the flap. On a stole it becomes the collar. On earrings it is the drop itself, in coloured lacquer on gold-tone brass.
Because the dresses, bags, wraps and earrings share that shape and exactly the same colour, you can build a whole look from one colour story without guessing whether things match.
Three weddings, three sets of rules
- GardenGrass, daylight and long afternoons. Midi and maxi hems that clear the lawn, breathable crepe, chiffon and linen-viscose, and sleeves that catch the light. Dress codes: garden formal, semi-formal, cocktail.
- BeachSea air and golden hour. Fabrics with movement but enough weight not to blow away, hems that stay out of the sand, and a stole for the evening breeze. Dress codes: beach formal, cocktail, semi-formal.
- CityTown halls, galleries and late dinners. Structured satin and crepe, deeper colours and the most dramatic sleeves. Dress codes: cocktail, black tie optional.
Every dress is listed under one of these weddings and carries one dress code on its label, so you can start from your invitation rather than from a long list.
Eight colours, never white
We do not make white, ivory, cream, champagne or nude dresses, and we never will: those belong to the couple. Our eight colours — Rosewood, Sage, Wisteria, Coral, Lagoon, Marigold, Bordeaux and Midnight — are mid to deep tones that photograph clearly next to a white dress.
What our fabrics are
We tell you exactly what each dress is made of, fibre by fibre, on every product page. Most of our dresses are polyester crepe, satin, chiffon or taffeta, some with a little elastane for stretch; three are a linen-viscose blend and three use a matte polyester jersey. The sculptural details are built into the pattern — interfacing, netting, stitched pleats — rather than stiffened with starch, so they come back into shape after cleaning.
